Program Description:

This will be a two-day workshop with the intent of providing the participants with the standards and guidelines of safe practice for various basic nursing procedures. A preceptor will discuss and demonstrate the nursing procedures while explaining the rationale behind the techniques and activities.
The participants will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills through a return demonstration phase guided by a competency checklist.

This program however, does not intend to certify the participants as competent or proficient practitioners. It will only assess the participants’ level of knowledge and skills in a guarded simulated environment. Thus, this training is intended to supplement the participants’ skill development on the standards of safe nursing practice.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
This workshop will provide the participants to hope their knowledge, skills, and attitude on performing safe practice based on standards of nursing procedure.

The participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the standards of practice in performing the following procedures:a. EKG Takingb. Suctioningc. Gastric Gavage / Lavaged. Wound Care / Decubitus Caree. HGT Taking and Recordingf. Cleansing Enemag. Operation of Infusion Pumph. Medication Administration (Oral)2. Demonstrate the safe practice activities when performing these basic procedure based on standards.3. Articulate the rationale behind the activities of the procedure.4. Evaluate competency level through a competency checklist during the return demonstration.
